Report issues after closing the fiscal year

Description of Issue

Around 60 accounts show as needing Encumbrance Journals on the GL Encumbrance Report

Funds are out of balance

Cause

In MUNIS > Financials > General Ledger Menu > End of Period > Fiscal Year End Processing, the Closing Current Fiscal Year has been completed but the Open New Fiscal Year has not been completed.

Resolution

Reports and utilities other than the Year End Trial Balance Report should not be run between the Closing Current Fiscal Year and Open New Fiscal Year processes. MUNIS completes numerous functions during these two steps which can result in Funds appearing out of balance until the both steps are complete.


It is always recommended to complete the entire Year end close processes in Training or Test to verify that there will be no issues when taking those steps in Live.
