Error updating Employee Job Salary record - Step not within min max range for Position

When updating an Employee Job/Salary record to change the Pay Status I am getting an error.

Step not within min/max range for position

• Payroll

• Human Resources

• Position Control

• Employee Job/Salary

The Grade/Step on the Employee Job/Salary record was outside the Min and Max Grade/Step range defined on the Position Control record.

1. Go to Position Control (Human Resources>Position Control and Budgeting>Position Control)

2. Search for the Position. 

3. Click the Salary Data tab. 

4. Click Update. 

5. Define the correct Min and Max Grade/Step information. 

6. Click Accept.
