Step record missing for this step date and grade



Description of Issue
  • Error Step record missing for this step date and grade given in Employee Job/Salary
  • User receives error in Grade & Step fields when trying to post an action
  • Grade record missing when posting Personnel Action
Context

Cause
  • Job Class and/or Position is required the Grade/Step fields to be defined in Job/Salary, but they are blank
  • Effective date in Employee Job/Salary is before the effective date of the Salary Table/Pay Band.
  • No salary table exists for the GBU and Grade being entered into Employee Job Salary


Resolution

If the Job Class or Position requires a Grade/Step:

  1. Navigate to Employee Job/Salary (Payroll>Employee Maintenance>Employee Job/Salary)
  2. Click Search and find your issue employee
  3. Review each Base Pay record to ensure that the Grade and Step fields are assigned for each Job where Grade and Step are required

If the Effective Date in Employee Job/Salary is before the effective date on the Salary Table:

  1. Access Salary Tables (Human Resources > Position Control and Budgeting > Salary Tables)
  2. Search for the Salary Table/Pay Band
  3. Click Copy
  4. Enter the Effective Date and TAB through the fields to enter the information
  5. Click Accept

If the Salary Table is not set up yet for the GBU and Grade being entered:

  1. Access Salary Tables (Human Resources > Position Control and Budgeting > Salary Tables)
  2. Click Add
  3. Enter the Effective Date, Group/CU Code, Grade/Rank  and TAB through the fields to enter the information
  4. Click Accept
