Earnings and Deductions Error - Not enough base pay line amount to subtract hours from base



Description of Issue

When changing a vacation pay type to a sick pay type I am getting an error in payroll

Not enough base pay line amount to subtract hours from base

Cause

The sick pay type was checked to Subtract from Base in Pay Master

Resolution

Remove the Subtract from Base setting from the Pay Master record. Then update the pay codes with the appropriate hours in Earnings and Deductions

  1. Go to the Pay Master: Human Resources/Payroll > Payroll > Payroll Setup > Pay Master
  2. Search on the Pay Code number in the Pay field and click Accept
  3. Click Update. Uncheck the Subtract from Base checkbox. Click Accept
  4. Go to Earnings and Deductions: Human Resources/Payroll > Payroll > Payroll Processing > Payroll Start and Status > Earnings and Deductions
  5. Search on the Employee Number. Click Accept
  6. Click on the Pay tab, click Update and key in the units in the Hrs/Days field. Click Accept
  7. Go back to the Pay Master: Human Resources/Payroll > Payroll > Payroll Setup > Pay Master
  8. Search on the Pay Code number in the Pay field. Click Accept
  9. Click Update and check the Subtract from Base checkbox. Click Accept
