Payroll Deduction Code in Incorrect Range

Description of Issue

A deduction exists in the 4000 range that should not because it is not truly a state income tax.  How do we correct?

Context
  • Payroll
  • Setup
  • Deductions
Cause

Use of the 4000 range of deduction codes in EERP is restricted because the entire range is reserved for State Income Tax (SIT) in all tax reporting.

A non-SIT deduction was created in the SIT range.

Resolution

Create a new code in the Deduction Master and then Tyler will use SQL to script so it looks like the new code was there from day one, and the incorrect code never existed.

Follow these steps:

  1. Use the Copy functionality in the Deduction/Benefit Master program to create a new code outside of the reserved ranges.
    1. You must create a brand new code that does not currently exist, even if you believe you're not currently using an existing code and never have.
  2. Review the Payroll Exceptions program.
    1. If the incorrect code is excluded from any other deductions, Update those records and change the incorrect code to the new deduction code you created.
  3. Contact Payroll Support or your Implementation Staff to have the remaining data corrected.
    1. Steps 1-3 must be completed prior to any corrections being made by Tyler.
    2. You will need to provide the 4000 range deduction code you were using as well as the new deduction code you've created.
