Invalid Authenticator Code Error When Using Two Factor Authentication for Tyler Deploy

Description of Issue

User is receiving Invalid Authenticator Code when inputting one-time 2FA code while trying to sign into Tyler Deploy.

Context
  • Tyler Deploy
  • 2FA
  • Multi Factor Authentication
  • Login Failure
Cause

Tyler Deploy requires two-factor authentication (2FA) for sign in. This is set up the first time a user signs into Tyler Deploy after access is granted. If the one-time code expires before signing in you will receive an error saying the code is invalid. A user may need to have their 2FA for Tyler Deploy reset if the authenticator is lost or no longer working.

Resolution
  1. Confirm you have been granted access to Tyler Deploy: How to Add a User to Tyler Deploy
  2. Ensure the one-time code you input is not expired. If it is, enter the new one that is valid.
  3. If you are prompted to put in a one-time code but have not set up 2FA, or need to have it reset, Munis support or a user with administrative Tyler Deploy rights can reset it for you: Resetting 2FA in Tyler Deploy For a User
  4. If you are still getting the Invalid Authenticator Code error after the reset of 2FA, try the following:
    1. Update your mobile authenticator app to the latest version
    2. Ensure your authenticator app's internal clock is in sync with the publisher's server. If using the Google Authenticator App, click on the ellipsis on the top right> Settings> Time correction for codes> Sync now (you may need to have your 2FA reset one more time and/ or clear cache if still having issues after the time sync in the authenticator app is fixed)
