Total number of employees on 941 report is zero because there was no Warrant that crossed the 12th


Description of Issue

Ran the quarterly 941 report and the total number of employees is showing as zero

Cause

The employee count reflects the number of employees who received wages, tips, or other compensation for the pay period including the 12th of the last month in the quarter being reported.

  • There are no Warrants with a Start/End date that cross the 12th 
  • The Warrant with Start/End dates that will cross the 12th has a Check Date in the next Quarter and the Print Payroll Advices/Print Payroll Checks steps have not been completed yet
Resolution

Acquire a count using the Detail proof from the Warrant that will cross the 12th, or from the Warrant that should have. 

  1. Open the Payroll Start and Status program
  2. Click Search
  3. Enter the Warrant or Check Date of the payroll 
  4. Click Accept
  5. Click Earnings and Deductions Proof
  6. Click Yes to Continue with this payroll process
  7. Click Define 
  8. Select B - Detail Proof from the Proof Option drop down list
  9. Click Print Payroll Statistics, if it is not already check marked
  10. Click Accept
  11. Choose an output option

You will see the Total Employees count in the Earnings Summary.
