Cause

Resolution
The Hired date field is not configurable and can only be updated when the employee begins employment with your organization, or is returning to employment with your organization after a termination. Otherwise, you will negatively impact reporting that's required at a state and federal level. If you did not collect a (new) W-4 for the employee, do not enter a new date in the Hired date field.
Tyler recommends using the Position Start/End Dates in Employee Job/Salary to track role changes, but Using Employee Master Other Dates to track Position or Job changes is another option.
