When copying a project can I use the same name on the new project

I want to copy an existing project and use the same name on the new project but can't. How can I accomplish this?

When copying a project the same name cannot be used on the new project.

Instead, use the previous name and add a 2 or something to make the name different but close enough so that its easy to identify that the second project is a continuation of the first.
