EERP Test email Unable to authenticate the specified user

Description of Issue

EERP test emails fail to send with an error message stating, "Error: 12230: Unable to authenticate the specified user Authenticating with SMTP server.

Context
  • EERP (Munis)

  • Email

Cause

If emails were properly flowing through and suddenly stopped due to this error, most probable cause is the SMTP integration account had expired or was changed by the client.

Resolution
  1. Log into EERP and navigate to System Administration>General Administration>System Settings:

    1. Click Update (pencil icon) on the top ribbon

    2. Navigate to the Email tab

    3. Click Enter Set or change SMTP password

  2. On the Enter Password popup window enter in the updated password:

    1. Click Ok

    2. On the top ribbon click Accept

  3. Test email to verify issue is resolved

Additional Information
  • Client will need to follow up with their IT team to verify the correct credentials to use if any changes have been made if they are using their own SMTP service/3rd party service such as Office 365, Gmail, etc.
