Installing APG Serial Cash Drawer for Cashiering
Description of Issue
How to install and set up APG serial cash drawer to be used with Cashiering Hardware Console
Serial cash drawers connect to printers using a APG CD-101A cable which has RJ-12 and RJ-45 ends. These are clear modular connectors.

Epson TM-6000 Series
- Setup printer in OPOS before connecting the cash drawer
- Connect cash drawer to the printer via CD-101A cable
- Click the Windows Start button
- Expand the EPSON OPOS ADK folder, then run SetupPOS as an administrator
- In the EPSON OPOS ADK window, click the plus icon next to Device
- Right-click on Cash Drawer > Add New Device
- Select Multi_A for Device Name
- Select Multi_AU for Detailed Model
- Click Next
- In the Connection Type dropdown, select the printer model
- We will use POSPrinter\TM-H6000V as an example
- Click OK
- Click Next
- In the Port is being used by dropdown, select POSPrinter\TM-H6000V (select your model)
- Click CheckHealth Interactive
- Click Start
- If successful, the drawer will open
- Close the drawer, then click Close
- The SetupPOS result window will display. Click OK
- Click Finish
- Ignore the contradictory warning message and click OK
- Exit OPOS when done
- Proceed to Hardware Console setup
Epson TM-9000 Series
- Install printer drivers before connecting the cash drawer
- Connect cash drawer to the printer via CD-101A cable
- Proceed to Hardware Console setup
Hardware Console Setup
- If the Cashiering Hardware Console is already running, close and restart the Hardware Console: How to Restart Cashiering Hardware Console
- Open Hardware Console from system tray or from Cashiering 9-box menu
- Click the pencil and add the cash drawerÂ
- Cash Drawer:Â Cash Drawer (USB)Â
- Controller:Â Select the printer the drawer is connected to
- Click Save
- Click Re-initialize
- Exit the Hardware Console (do not exit the service from the system tray)
- Reinitialize the Hardware Console from system tray
- Refresh the Cashiering page
- Test cash drawer operation with drawer-open button in top left corner
- Note: Settings could restrict the drawer-open button from appearing
