Description of Issue

How do I connect to a S3 Bucket to transfer files to/from their DR environment?

Context

  • AWS

  • Disaster Recovery

  • WinSCP

Cause

When in Disaster Recovery there needs to be a way to transfer files to and from to the AWS servers.

Resolution

Installing WinSCP:

  1. Navigate to https://winscp.net/eng/download.php and download WinSCP

  2. Run the installer and accept all the default settings

Using WinSCP:

  1. Launch WinSCP

  2. Change File protocol dropdown to Amazon S3

  3. Enter the Access key ID and Secret access key in their respective boxes. (These will be located in an Excel spreadsheet provided by Tyler.)

  4. Click on Advanced > Directories Enter the Remote Directory Name. This will also be provided in an email from Tyler as the Bucket Name.

  5. Click OK

Additional Information

Before any data is uploaded to the S3 bucket there needs to be prior clearance by Tyler.
