Load Balanced Application Server Setup Requirements

Description of Issue

What requirements are needed to setup and configure a server for load balancing?

  • Load Balancing

  • DNS

  • Application Server

  • Distributed File System

  • Persistence Method

  • Timeout Threshold

Resolution

Load Balancers must be setup within the client's network by a local admin before the scheduled engagement provide the following information:

  • Virtual Internet Protocol (VIP) of the Load Balancer

  • Load Balancer Domain Name System (DNS)

  • Both Application Servers online

  • Anti-Virus (AV) set to stand-by status

  • Firewall rules need to be in place prior to engagement unless internal traffic isn't being blocked

  • Persistence Method needs to be selected in Load Balancer configuration

  • Timeout Threshold needs to be set to a minimum of 43,200 seconds (12 hours)

  • Product needs to be set up with TID-W before engagement

  • A point of contact in case additional requests come up
