Employees showing Negative base pay line after Time Entry Move instead of Subtracting from Base pay that Generated into Payroll

Description of Issue

Some employees are showing two base pay lines in Earnings and Deductions in payroll. One for their regular 80 hours and another for -8 for a vacation day. Why is the subtract from base creating a negative line instead of taking from the 80 hours that generated in?

Context
  • Payroll

  • Time Entry

  • Payroll Start and Status

  • Earnings and Deductions

Cause

The Subtract From Base logic was changed to first take base pay hours from time keyed into Time Entry. The employees showing the negative base pay line in payroll had a base pay with 0 hours in Time Entry.

Resolution

If the base pay has no hours in Time Entry either delete that line or adjust a Payroll Control Setting to prevent those lines from moving into Payroll.

  1. Go to Payroll Control Settings (Payroll>Payroll Setup>Payroll Control Settings)

  2. Double click on the setting for, Time Entry - Allow zero pay records to be moved to the payroll.

  3. Click Update. Change the Value to N. Click Accept
