Description of Issue

In Employee Job/Salary, what does the Off-step/Frozen field control? 



Context

  • Payroll

  • Employee Job/Salary

  • Mass Salary Changes



Cause




Resolution

  • If the Off-step/Frozen field is defined with Frozen - The employee is locked into their salary and it cannot increase or decrease.

  • If the Off-Step/Frozen field is defined with Off-step - The defined salary does not equal a salary that is on a step of the Salary Table and/or the employee can be set to Off-Step in order to manually update the Pay Rates if they are attached to a salary table.

  • A Contract Change or Next Step Increase can potentially change an Off-Step employee if the salary they would be getting exceeds the Salary the employee(s) is currently at and is checked to include Off-Step employees but these programs would not change the Frozen employee.
