Position Control is auto duplicating



Description of Issue
  • New instances of positions are being created automatically

  • How can we prevent duplicate positions from being created



Context
  • Position Control

  • Payroll Control Settings

  • Personnel Settings



Cause
  • The Payroll Control Setting is set to Y 

  • Personnel Setting Position Control Update is set to Y



Resolution
  • Navigate to Payroll Control Settings

  1. Select Human Capital Management > Payroll > Payroll Setup > Payroll Control Settings

  2. Change all settings in Employee Master Update that update Position Control (Do this by double clicking on each line that you wish to change)

  3. Click Update, then change Y to N

  4. Click Accept

  • Navigate to Personnel Settings

  1. Select Human Capital Management > Human Resources > Personnel Setup > Personnel Settings

  2. Click Update

  3. Click Position Control

  4. Uncheck the Update From Job/Salary box

  5. Click Accept



Additional Information
  • Taking these steps should keep the records from duplicating. Once you change these settings to No, when you make changes to the Employee Master or Job Class Master, and you want those changes to reflect in Position Control as well, you will have to go to the position to make the changes manually.
