Context
  • Property Tax Billing
  • Abatement Entry (txabtent)
Cause

An Abatement was entered in error and discovered before being Bill or GL posted.

Resolution
  1. Begin by following the steps here to locate a non-Bill or GL posted abatement: Find an Abatement Within an Abatement Entry Batch
    1. If the abatement cannot be found, then it may have been GL posted. Abatements disappear from Abatement Entry when they are GL posted. GL posted abatements can be reversed using the steps outlined here: Reverse or Undo Bill Posted and GL Posted Abatements
  2. Confirm that the abatement has not been previously voided. Voided abatements have a Y in the Voided field. Voided abatements can be ignored.
  3. Confirm that the abatement has not been Bill posted. Bill posted abatements have a Y in the Bill updated field. Bill posted abatements have to be undone using the steps outlined here: Reverse or Undo Bill Posted and GL Posted Abatements
  4. Click Delete to void a non-voided and non-Bill or GL posted abatement.
  5. A message will appear at the bottom of the screen stating Adjustment has been voided. and the Voided field will switch from an N to a Y
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 for each abatement that needs to be removed, deleted, or voided.
    1. The voided abatement will not disappear until the batch is posted.
  7. Add all desired abatements and abatement reversals to the batch and then, GL Post following the steps outlined here: GL Post an Abatement Batch
