Run an MLC for a split or recently changed parcel

Description of Issue
  • Need to run an MLC for the previous and current parcel when the parcel has undergone a Parcel Id change, usually due to a split lot.
  • If the Parcel Id for a parcel has changed, how can an MLC be run for all of the parcel's history?
Context
  • MA Tax
  • Municipal Lien Certificate (tmalienc)
  • MLC
  • Split Parcel
Cause

An MLC can only be run for one Parcel Id at a time.

Resolution

If the parcel's Parcel Id has changed, and an MLC is needed that includes history for the prior parcel and the current parcel, then there are two options.

  1. Two MLCs can be run and mailed to the requestor, one MLC for the prior parcel using the prior Parcel Id and one MLC for the current parcel using the current Parcel Id.
  2. The prior parcel can be reassigned so that the Parcel Ids on the prior records are replaced with the current Parcel Ids. Note that in instances of a parcel split, only one of the resulting parcels can be reassigned the parent parcel's Parcel Id.
