Mass Disable ESS Logins for All Users Indefinitely

Description of Issue

Site has switched to Employee Access and no longer wants users to be able to log into ESS.

Context

  • Employee Access (EA)

  • ESS

  • Employee Self Service

Resolution

There is no global setting within ESS to mass-disable all ESS accounts or block users' access indefinitely. However, putting ESS into Maintenance mode for an extended period will effectively accomplish this task. Users will still be able to access the ESS homepage, but there will be no button to login.

  1. Log into ESS Hosting site with Cloud Admin account that has the MSSHosting role assigned.

  2. Click Edit on the client configuration page

  3. Select Scheduled Maintenance from the left menu

  4. Click Add New

  5. Select SystemDown from the Item Type Dropdown

  6. Select Non-Recurring

  7. Enter the desired start date and time and add an end date and time in the distant future (i.e. schedule end date several years in the future). Scheduled Maintenance can not be enabled without an end date added.

  8. Add desired text to the Message field. This message is what users will see when they navigate to the ESS homepage with Maintenance Mode enabled.

  9. Click Add
