Our staff are looking to start entering SOC data now so they can report on it in January 2023.

Resolution

When the WA Quarterly Wage Report changes are installed, you will need to Crosswalk either Munis Job Class codes, or Munis Position Codes to the SOC codes.

The State Reporting Codes Crosswalks will present all of the Munis values for you.  You will only need to key the SOC codes, and will have the option of using an Excel Export/Import process for entry.

You could prepare now using the following steps:

  1. Determine whether it will work best for you to associate your Munis Job Class codes with a SOC Code, or your Munis Position Codes.
  2. Open either the Job Class Master or Position Control programs, based on your choice in Step 1.
  3. Select Search.
  4. Select Accept.
  5. Select Browse.
  6. Select Excel.
  7. In Excel, create a new workbook.
  8. Enter the following Headers in Row 1:
    1. Crosswalk Type
    2. Munis Value
    3. Crosswalk Value
  9. Copy the Job, or Position # Column from the Munis Excel file (based on your choice in Step 1).
  10. Paste into the Munis Value column in the new workbook.
  11. Enter SOC JOB or SOC POS in the Crosswalk Type Column in the new workbook (based on your choice in Step 1).  Populate the value once and use Excel functionality to mass populate the remaining Rows for this Column.
  12. For each Munis Value, enter the correlating SOC value into the Crosswalk Value Column using the Resources ESD has provided to you here: https://esd.wa.gov/employer-taxes/about-soc
  13. Save the workbook.
  14. Stay tuned on the Washington What's on your mind Forum on Tyler Community for Import instructions you can use once the WA Quarterly Wage Report changes are installed.  (NOTE: Link will require a Tyler Community login, and membership to Munis State User Groups).
