SSRS and EERP SQL Server are hosted on different servers
Typically SSRS and EERP SQL Database server are hosted on the same server. When they are on different servers, a known issue referred to as SSRS double hop authentication issue occurs and causes the datasources using Windows Authentication to fail.Â
Since a server migration is intrusive process, another reasonable workaround is to store the windows credentials of a generic user(usually the DOMAIN\munis account) in the datasource.
Caution:
Since the datasource is now using stored credentials, any report referencing this datasource will use the TRS view permissions of that generic user instead of the user executing the report. Care should be taken through SSRS folder permissions so that users' do not have access to reports containing PII or sensitive financial information.
