Increase:  Expense account (Cr)

  • Type 2 or 5: This type indicates that the bottom line fund budget is being increased or decreased and the entry contains both a revenue and expense account. In other words, both an expense and a revenue account increase or both decrease.

Decrease: Revenue account (Dr)

Decrease: Expense account (Cr)

  • Type 3 or 6. This type indicates that a one-sided entry to an expense or revenue account will be made. The journal does not need to be balanced. This can be used to transfer budget dollars from one fund to another.

Increase: Expense account (Dr)

-or-

Decrease: Expense account (Cr)

Increase: Revenue account (Cr)

-or-

Decrease: Revenue account (Dr)

  • Type 7 or 8.  This type indicates that the budget amendment will be a balanced, inter-fund transfer.  Type 7 is used for expense-to-revenue transfers, and Type 8 is used for expense-to-expense transfers.  Note that these two types are not available if the 'Disallow inter-fund transactions (types 7 and 8)' option is selected in the Roles program under the Budget folder.

  • With amendment types 1, 2, and 3, you enter either increase or decrease on the detail lines of the budget amendment and enter the amount of increase or decrease. With types 4, 5, and 6, you enter the amount that the budget should be for that account and Munis programs calculate the amount of the increase or decrease for the journal.
