Adding an Emergency Contact in Tyler Parks & Rec

Description of Issue
  • How to add an emergency contact to a Contact record
  • When clicking the Edit icon on Emergency contacts, a blank page displays with no option to add.

Cause

Contacts must be added as Family members or in the Other Relationships menu to be available options under Emergency Contacts.

Resolution
  1. Navigate to Parks & Rec>Contact>Search
  2. Search the Contact you would like to add as an emergency contact (ie. the Parent/Guardian).
  3. Click Edit Contact.
  4. Ensure that contact has a listed phone number, is over 18, and Guardian/Parent is listed under the Title drop-down menu.
  5. Save.
  6. Click Family in the left-hand menu.
  7. Under the ellipse in the top-right corner, there is the option to create a new contact within this family or add an existing contact (if the child contact has already created an account in the portal).
    1. If need be, one can also list Contacts outside of the recipient's family by following the same step in the Other Relationships window.
  8. Go to the recipient's (ie. the Child) profile and select Edit on their emergency contacts. Anyone listed as a linked family member or in the Other Relationships window will now appear here.
  9. Under the ellipse, set the contact to the Primary, Secondary, or Additional Emergency Contact.
    1. Option: You can also select None, if there is a family member who should not be contacted in an emergency.
  10. Save.
Additional Information
  • There is no limit to the amount of Emergency contacts you can set here, provided they are all linked together in the Family menu.
  • All Emergency Contacts must have a listed phone number and be over age 18.
