An error reading Error updating time entry status can be displayed when trying to approve a time-off requests if a primary approver associated with the request has been deleted

Description of Issue

An error reading Error updating time entry status can be displayed when trying to approve a time-off requests if a primary approver associated with the request has been deleted.

The error is known to occur in the following scenarios: 

  1. Two primary approvers are expected to approve a time-off / hours request, one of them approves putting the entry into a partially approved state, but the other primary approver has their Workflow Approver record deleted. 

  2. One primary approver is expected to approve a time-off / hours request, and the singular approver has their workflow approver record deleted. Note, in this scenario if a new approver record is created that applies to the transaction the new approver will be able to approve the time-off / hours request.

Resolution

As a workaround in order to approve the time-off request:

  1. Navigate to Supervisor Actions → Manage Time-off

  2. Check the box for the request in question

  3. Click Reset to Pending

  4. Click Approve
