Payroll GL Distribution Journal posted a check with no check number

An amount posted to cash from payroll but the check number shows all zeros, 0000000 so I was unable to reconcile. 

• Munis
• Payroll Start and Status
• Print Payroll Checks/Advices
• GL Distribution Journal
• Payroll Control Settings 

The check was not printed in a Misc payroll.

To ensure the checks and advices are always printed prior to posting to the GL, the Print Payroll Checks and Print Payroll Advices can be set as required steps so they will not be missed.

1. Go to Payroll Control Settings. (Human Resources/Payroll>Payroll>Payroll Setup>Payroll Control Settings)
2. Click on Accept or Return. Click Run Control in the Menu.
3.  Use the directional arrows at the bottom to navigate to the necessary run type.
4. Click Update. Click on the Processing Jobs tab.
5. Check the checkbox next to Print Payroll Checks and Print Payroll Advices steps.
6. Click Accept. 

If while working in that payroll run type and there are no checks and/or no advices to be printed for that run:

1. Go to Payroll Start and Status. (Human Resources/Payroll>Payroll>Payroll Processing>Payroll Start and Status)
2. Search for the warrant. Click Accept. Click Change.
3. Click Update.
4. Uncheck the required steps not applicable for this particular payroll run.
5. Click Accept.

• It is possible to post to the GL without printing the Checks and Advices, however it is highly recommended to at least save them to the spool so the check numbers are created.
• Updating payroll required steps and generate defaults
• If there are both checks and advices to be printed and neither of them have been processed, when going into the GL distribution Journal, a warning message will display:

Payroll Checks not Processed

WARNING! Payroll checks have not been processed for this payroll run.

Are you sure you want to continue?

• • However, if one of those steps have been processed and the other has not (example advices were printed, but checks were not) the warning message will not display.
