Florida Retirement file layout changes required by April 2023

Description of Issue

Florida Retirement System (FRS) is adding fund codes and mobile phone numbers to the monthly retirement file.

Dear FRS Online Employer Services User,

Effective with the March 2023 Monthly Retirement Report (due April 7, 2023), the Enter Retirement Report Detail Screen and the retirement file submission formats will change.

For local agencies using the Edit Retirement Report Detail screen, a new field will be added to the demographic information.

Mobile Phone Number: Mobile phone number provides the division with the ability to facilitate authentication through FRS Online, security notification for account changes, and future informational notifications with your employee's availability of the Member Annual Statement (MAS), Tax Form 1099R for retirees, etc.).

For local agencies submitting retirement files to the Division of Retirement, the following two new fields will be added to the monthly retirement file format and will appear at the end of the data record string for each member on the file.

Fund Code: The Fund Code is for state agencies only. Local agencies should not populate this column and this column will not impact your Monthly Retirement Report.

Mobile Phone Number: Mobile phone number provides the division with the ability to facilitate authentication through FRS Online, security notification for account changes, and future informational notifications with your employee's availability of the Member Annual Statement (MAS), Tax Form 1099R for retirees, etc.).
