Using Mid-Cycle Raises in Payroll
I need to process a salary increase that is in the middle of payroll period, how do I handle this?
- Munis Version 11.3
- Payroll Control Settings
- Employee Job/Salary
- Go to Payroll Control Settings. (Payroll>Payroll Setup>Payroll Control Settings)
- Double click the line with Category and Label - Generate - Process Mid-Cycle Raises.
- Click Update. Change the Value from N to Y. Click Accept.
If you update the rates manually:
- Go to Employee Job/Salary. (Payroll>Employee Maintenance>Employee Job/Salary)
- Search for the employee. Click Accept. Click Update.
- Update the rates and effective date. Click Accept. The Mid cycle box will populate with a line showing the previous effective date and rate.
If you use a Mass program to update salaries:
- Process the salary increase as you typically would.
- Go to Employee Job/Salary. (Payroll>Employee Maintenance>Employee Job/Salary)
- Search for an employee included in the mass salary update. Click Accept. The Mid cycle box will populate with a line showing the previous effective date and rate.
*Please note that Hours/Day field should be populated in Employee Job/Salary.
When the payroll is generated, it's going to look to the effective date in the Mid Cycle box in Employee Job/Salary and pull rates into the payroll according to where the dates fall in the payroll period.
For example, if the payroll period is 12/29/2019 to 1/11/2020 and an Employee's Job/Salary record shows a current effective date of 1/6/2020 and the mid cycle box shows 12/24/2019, the old rate in the mid cycle box will generate into payroll from dates 12/29/2019 to 1/5/2020 and the current rate will generate for dates 1/6/2020 to 1/11/2020.
