Cannot insert the value NULL into column EffectiveDate table in Miscellaneous Cash Payments Import
Description of Issue
When trying to import a Miscellaneous Cash Payments Import file, the error Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'EffectiveDate', table is received.Â
Context
- General Billing
- Miscellaneous Cash Payments Import (armsimpt)Â
Cause
The selected import file has a bad or incomplete payment date.Â
Resolution
- Verify that the correct import file was selected.Â
- If the correct import file was selected, open the import file and check the Payment Dates listed for each payment. The Payment Date is the third field/column in the header records. (More information about where to find the Payment Date field and the Miscellaneous Cash Payments Import layout can be found here: Is there a miscellaneous cash payment import template for Enterprise ERP)
- The Payment Date must be the full 8 digit date in the MMDDYYYY format. For example, September 13th, 2023 would be 09132023. If the date is missing the leading 0 for single digit months, the error will occur.Â
- To verify that this will resolve the issue, highlight the column with the Payment Dates in Excel.Â
- RIGHT CLICK.Â
- Choose Format Cells. Â
- Choose Text.Â
- Click OK.
- Add leading 0 to the Payment Dates.
- Once all Payment Dates have a leading 0, attempt importing the file again to confirm that the adjustments have resolved the issue.Â
- Ask the file's provider to make sure the file is created with full 8 digit values in the Payment Date column/field to avoid this issue going forward.Â
