Error message when adding a foreign address to an employee in Employee Master - A State is Required



Description of Issue

User is adding an address record to an employee who lives in Canada and is getting A State is Required error message.

Cause

Munis requires a state code regardless of the country the new employee lives in and will not save the record until the state code field is defined



Resolution
  1. Add a new State Code (Payroll > Payroll Setup > Income Tax Setup > State Codes) that corresponds to Country Code for the employee.

    1. Example: County Code is CA for Canada, could use CA as the State Code. 

  2. Go to Employee Master (Payroll > Employee Maintenance > Employee Master)

  3. Click the Address tab and fill in the new state code in the state code field.

  4. Hit Accept to save the record
