How to create an encumbrance journal only affecting project strings on the project ledger

• User has project strings with Default GL/Budget accounts or segments tied to them

• User does not want the encumbrance journal to affect the General Ledger

• User needs to create an encumbrance journal only affecting the project ledger

• Project Accounting

• Project Ledger

• Project Expense String

• Project Funding Source String

• Project Encumbrance Journal/Entry

To create an encumbrance journal that only affects the project ledger:

Financials > General Ledger Menu > Project Accounting > Project Ledger > Projects/Inquiry > Project Encumbrance Entry/Proof

1. Click Add in ribbon

2. Enter journal header information (Short description is mandatory)

3. Enter project strings in Journal Entry Lines section

4. Accept

5. Output/Post

6. Select The current journal only or All of your own journals

7. OK to print or save proof report

8. Yes
