TCM - HTTP Status 503 – Service Unavailable

Description of Issue

  • HTTP Status 503 – Service Unavailable

  • Server startup failed, tyler.empire.service.ServerStateError: duplicate live servers with name of <Server>

  • Server instance is 123, but the highest Document Service number is 1234. Unable to instantiate. The fix consists of altering the setting table in the database and setting the 'server.instance' to be 1234

  • Server version xxxx.x.x doesn't match <old_server_name> version xxxx.x.x

Context

Cause

  1. Duplicate web app on server with same database connection string - most often caused after Apache is split from a shared instance

  2. Setting table has invalid server.instance set
