How to allow Inquiry Only access to payroll programs

Description of Issue

Need to give a user inquiry only access to programs in payroll

Cause

Change needed to employee payroll program access

Resolution
  1. Access User Attributes (System Administration > Security > User Attributes)

  2. Search for the user whose access should be updated

  3. Find the role that has payroll access (there may be more than one)

  4. Click Edit Role at the bottom > click HR Management/Payroll > click Update

  5. Set Payroll superuser and Personnel superuser to No

  6. Click the Category Access tab

  7. Select Inquiry Only from the drop down list for all categories that should be affected

  8. Click Accept

Additional Information
  • Users must also be granted access to under Data Maintenance Access in HR Management/Payroll.  See Grant Payroll Data Access to User.

  • If the employee has payroll access in more than one role, the roles will work together to provide the most access possible.  If the user has update/delete access in another role, that will override inquiry only in other roles.

  • If you make changes- take note of other employees attached to that role and know it will affect their access as well
