Description of Issue

Update General Ledger Segment Code Description

Context
  • Munis
  • General Ledger
  • Chart of Account Segments
Cause
  • Segment Description is incorrect or no longer valid and needs to be updated
Resolution

To update GL Segment code descriptions:

Munis > Financials > General Ledger Menu > Set Up/Chart of Accounts > Chart of Account Segments

  1. Select 'GL segment' field's Drop Down Arrow
  2. Select needed segment or code
  3. Accept to display results to the screen.
  4. Update
  5. Enter Description or Short description
  6. Accept
Additional Information
  • Object Code Descriptions
    • Updating Object code description will impact GL Account description for all new Accounts created in Account Master
    • Existing Account descriptions will not be retroactively updated in Account Master if Object description updated in COAS
    • Account Descriptions for existing Accounts can be updated in Account Master after originally defaulting from COAS Object code
