Calculating Longevity Service Months

Description of Issue

How can I tell how much service an employee has towards longevity?

Context
  • Enterprise ERP Payroll

  • Pay Master

  • Longevity Table

  • Employee Master

  • Employee Job/Salary

Cause

Resolution

The service months are the number of months between the Service Date in Employee Master and the Longevity Date in Employee Job/Salary.  And then add or subtract the number of years entered for Other Service in Employee Master.

  • Service Date is on the Dates tab of Employee Master (Payroll>Employee Maintenance>Employee Master)

  • Other Service is on the Payroll tab of Employee Master. The default is 0. It can be used to add or subtract years to the length of service when computing longevity. It can be positive or negative.

    • i.e. if enter 2, system will add 2 years to the employee's service.

  • Longevity Date is defined in Employee Job/Salary on the Longevity Pay Code. (Payroll>Employee Maintenance>Employee Job/Salary)

  • Longevity Table is in Pay Master (Payroll>Payroll Setup>Pay Master).

    • Search on the pay code. Note the Longevity Table number field. Click Longevity in the toolbar. Search for the Longevity table number.

Example:

  • Employee's Service Date is 05/01/2020 in Employee Master.

  • Nothing defined in the Other Service field in Employee Master.

  • Employee's Longevity date in Employee Job/Salary is 10/10/2023.

  • This employee's length of service would be 3 years 5 months or 41 months total.

    • Compare the 41 months length of service to the Longevity table to see what their amt/pct would be.
