Resolution

Require Setup:

An Employee Certifications Type code must be created for National Board Certifications and another for Master Teacher Certifications.
One Employee Certifications record must be created for each Type an employee holds the certification for.

Processing:

Enter the Employee Certification Types you created above in the National Board Cert Type and Master Teacher Cert Type fields on the AK DEED Generate screen for Certified Staff.
The National Board Certified and Master Teacher Certificate Data Element Generates into the NB/MasterTeacher Cert field on the Period Record as follows:
1. If the employee is not a Teacher, the field will be blank.
2. If the employee is a Teacher and has an active Employee Certifications record with a Type code matching the National Board Cert Type from the Generate screen AND an active Employee Certifications record with a Type code matching the Master Teacher Cert Type from the Generate screen, the field will be Y - Yes (holds both National Board and a Master Teacher certificate).
3. If the employee is a Teacher and doesn't have an active Employee Certifications record for BOTH Types, the field will be N - No (Is not National Board and Master Teacher certified).

Notes:

An "active" Employee Certifications record means the Effective Date is on or before the defined "First day of the reporting period" and the Expiration Date is on or after the defined "First day of the reporting period".
If a Teacher needs to be reported as W - Working towards National Board and Master Teacher certification, the NB/MasterTeacher Cert field on the Period Record will need to be manually updated from N to W after the Generate is completed.
