KY CERS deductions are being rounded by a penny

KY CERS deductions are being rounded by a penny

Description of Issue

Reported amounts for the employer contribution is not matching contribution amounts KPPA is calculating on submission.

Context
  • Payroll

  • Kentucky

  • CERS Start Monthly Report

Cause

The submission report provided by KPPA is calculating the contribution amount based on the sum of earnings for the month, whereas they are calculated payroll by payroll in EERP/Munis.

Resolution

The submission report provided by KPPA appears to acknowledge the math and flags these scenarios with a PASS on the submission file report, versus flagging them as EROR.

Complete the submission to KPPA with no changes.

Additional Information

Example

Employee has two payrolls in the reporting month.  In both payrolls, the KPPA deduction gross is 1113.20.

1113.20 gross x 26.79% contribution rate = 298.222628 and this mathematically rounds to 298.23 in each payroll.

298.23 +298.23 =596.46 and this is the amount being reported to KPPA.

The KPPA submission validation is multiplying the monthly earnings (1113.20 + 1113.20 = 2226.40) by the contribution rate.

2226.40 * 26.79% = 596.45256 and this mathematically rounds to 596.45.

The difference between the contribution amount 596.46 that is submitted and the 596.45 amount the is calculated causes the record to appear on the KPPA submission report.
