Choosing Effective Date on Contract Change Order

Description of Issue

Is there a way to choose the effective date on a Contract Change Order or change the effective date on an unposted Contract Change Order? It seems to just take the year and period from the Main tab of the contract.

Context
  • Munis
  • Purchasing

Cause

Needing specific functionality of Contract Change orders

Resolution

For Contracts that would create a journal to the General Ledger, such as Encumbered, you actually do pick an Effective Date. It's just not immediately at the time of the change like with a Purchase Order.

For example, say there is an Encumbered Contract that has a Year of 2020 on the Main Tab, and 2020 is a Closed Year. On the Accounts tab, there is a 2021 Line. You make a change to that line, increasing the amount. After the change order is created and approved (if you use Contract Workflow), and after clicking the Output Post button, a Journal Update screen will appear, allowing you to choose the exact effective date of the 2021 line change

Additional Information

Because the Journal Update screen appears after clicking Output Post, that is where a user would define the Effective Date on a brand new or existing Contract Change Order.
