Delete exemption off of a Current Parcel

Description of Issue

An exemption that reduces the taxable value of a parcel needs to be deleted off of the Current version of the parcel so that the taxable value is not reduced and so that the parcel's exemption amounts will display correctly on other reports or forms like the Municipal Lien Certificate (MLC) or Tax Statement.

Context
  • Property Tax Billing
  • Parcels (txremast)
Cause

The exemption was either imported or added in error or the parcel no longer receives the exemption and it needs to be removed.

Resolution
  1. Navigate to the Parcels program either by searching or via the following path: Property Revenues > Property Tax Billing > Region > State > Assessor Processing and Reports > Parcels
  2. Click Search.
  3. Depending on the Tax Year Settings Process Status for the Current Assessment Year, one of two things will happen.
    1. In most cases, the fields will open so that search terms can be entered.
    2. If in the middle of an active Bill Run, the program may display a prompt asking, Which type of records do you wish to find?
      1. If the above prompt is received, choose Current.
  4. Enter the Parcel.
  5. Click Accept.
  6. Click the Exemptions folder.
  7. Click the Exemption to be deleted so that it becomes highlighted.
  8. Click Delete.
  9. A confirmation message is given: Are you sure you want to delete this record from the database?
  10. Click Yes to delete the Exemption off of the Parcel or No to cancel.
