Description of Issue

Can a Capital Asset number be changed?

Cause

Informational 

Resolution

The Capital Asset number cannot be changed once the asset has been created

  • If the asset is still in a New status, it can be re-entered with the correct number and then the incorrectly numbered asset can be deleted

    • The Copy Assets function can be used to eliminate manual data entry of the new asset.  Asset ID and Tag ID would need to be updated with the desired new number.

  • If the asset status is Active, refer to Removing an Active Asset
