Once the install is done, connect the scanner to the PC and wait for Windows to detect and install the 19xx scanner
After connecting the scanner but before scanning the QR code, in Device Manager the scanner will show under POS Barcode Scanner as POS HID Barcode scanner. This is normal at this point, but the QR code below must be used to switch it to COM port use to work correctly with the Cashiering Hardware Console.
It's a good idea to reset the scanner back to its defaults before adding further programming for use with Tyler apps. To reset to defaults, first scan the top Remove Custom Defaults bar code, then scan the Activate Defaults bar code.
Scan the barcode below to configure the scanner for Cashiering and to put it in COM port emulation mode
Open Windows Device Manager
Expand Ports (COM & LPT) and note the number of the COM port that the scanner was created on as this will be required to setup the scanner in the Cashiering Hardware Console. If you are unsure which port is being used, you can unplug the scanner, observe which one disappears, then plug it in again and observe which one appears.
Open the Cashiering Hardware Console
Click the Pencil icon
Add the scanner and set the COM port to reflect what you see in Device Manager
Click Save
Close Hardware Console from browser and system tray, then restart Hardware Console before testing: How to Restart Cashiering Hardware Console
Setup and test in Cashiering
In Cashiering, navigate to Administration > Payment Types
Locate applicable payment type and click the Pencil icon to edit
Click the Scanning tab
Click into Test Scan field
Scan applicable item
You must have administrator rights to install drivers
If you intend to use the scanner for OCR, you must have a license for it. On some models, the license is an additional cost. See https://sps-support.honeywell.com/s/article/Does-the-Xenon-support-OCR-reading for further information.
OCR-A and OCR-B is supported. OCR-A tends to be easier to read. You can find the OCR-A font in Microsoft Word to create test strings if you wish. No need to print first – you can scan them on the screen.
