Timeclocks and the management of Timeclocks are the responsibility of the client. The clock represents a standalone operating system and with that operating system come administrative accounts. These accounts are used to manage the system and the software of these devices.  The accounts are configured with default values when shipped from the factory. Tyler recommends following best practice with default passwords and altering these values to suit your entities’ needs.

The default accounts are:

  • 'Kiosk' Account (Windows) - Windows administrator used to run services and define permissions for all ancillary devices being used on a Windows based platform
  • 'Root' Account (Linux) - Linux administrator used to run services and define permissions for all ancillary devices being used on a Linux based platform
  • Supervisor Access / Menu (gear icon) - This is an application account and grants access to a UI to control various hardware/peripheral settings
  • VNC Password - grants access to connect to VNC
  • 'Admin' diagnostic web account - Built in diagnostic web site for clock which provides basic clock troubleshooting

Tyler also recommends to securely store and/or archive these credentials.  Loss of this information will render the device inaccessible and require the device to be sent back for factory reimaging.
