Description of Issue
  • How can I transfer an employee from one position to another? 
  • Adjusting employee records to account for position change/transfer
Context
  • Munis (Version 11.3 and older)
  • Employee Job/Salary
  • Position Control
Resolution
  1. Access Payroll > Employee Maintenance > Employee Master
  2. Search for the employee. Update record and adjust information as needed, such as Job Class, Location, Group B/U etc. Click Accept
  3. Access Human Resources > Position Control and Budgeting > Position Control
  4. Search for the Position. Determine which position will be used, make sure it is currently available for occupancy
  5. Access Payroll > Employee Maintenance > Employee Job/Salary and Search for the employee in question
  6. Update Work End Date and Pay End Date on old job's base pay record. Click Accept
  7. Add new base pay record with appropriate dates, employee now occupies new position
Cause

User is unsure how to adjust employee record to transfer them to new position

In Munis V2018.1 and higher we introduced Effective Dated Pays, which changes this process. Read more about that functionality here
