Description of Issue

What do I need to pick for the file format for my W-2 Electronic File?

I'm getting errors submitting my state electronic file. - Error "File is missing requires Montana RS30 record. Please recreate the file with RS record and resubmit" 

Context
  • Munis
  • W-2 Wizard
  • Create W-2 Electronic File
Cause

Not selecting the correct W-2 file format. 

Resolution
  1. Go to W-2 Wizard. (Payroll>W-2 and 1099-R Processing>W-2 Wizard)
  2. Click on Step 7. Electronic File in the Menu. 
  3. For the Federal File select format FDWM - FEDERAL W2 EFW2
  4. For the State File for North Carolina select format SGWM - STATE GENERAL W2 EFW2
Additional Information

Some states have a specific state file they will need to select.
