Description of Issue

When generating payroll, getting error message "Divide By Zero Error Encountered". No employees generate into payroll.

Context
  • Human Capital Management
  • Payroll
  • Payroll Processing
  • Payroll Start and Status
  • Generate Earnings and Deductions
Cause

Employee in Job Salary has a Pay Record with an effective End Date that is the same as the effective Start Date which is a Sunday, and on the Job Salary, Cycles/Other Tab, Sunday is not checked as a Workday.

In Payroll> Payroll Setup> Payroll Control Settings, Category: Generate, Label: Partial Units Calculation, Value is W-By Workday. There are no Workdays during the Effective Start and Effective End Date of the Job Salary Record and the system is trying to prorate the pay using number of days in payroll divided by number of workdays, which is zero.

Resolution

In Payroll> Employee Maintenance>Employee Job Salary, Update Pay End Date to not equal the Effective Start Date of the Job Salary record.
