FIT and SIT Setting Marital Status default

How does the FIT and SIT Setting screen know what to default in for the marital status?

When adding a new employee in the Employee Master program, the Actual Marital Status should be populated with the desired Marital Status. The Marital Status that is populated in that field will then default in when you are adding the base pay for the new employee in the Employee Job/Salary program. 

If the Actual Marital Status is left blank when adding the employee in Employee Master, the Marital Status that will default in will be Single. There is a drop down of options to select from if Single is not correct.
