Description of Issue
Attachments saved in the CM HTML Viewer are able to marked with certain redactions and annotations. Annotations can be added to PDFs and image files such as JPGs and TIFFs. Please see below for the available options:
- Highlights
- Highlighting allows you to emphasize an area of an image. These highlights will now appear on the image if it is printed from the HTML viewer.
- Redactions
- Redaction provides the ability to prevent aspects of an image from being seen by users who are not permitted by security. NOTE: This requires Administrative (A) privileges to the doc type. If a user does not have sufficient permissions, then the document will be opened in Read Only mode and the redaction will appear opaque.
- Text Stamps
- Text stamps provide the ability to add a visible layer of text to an image. These stamps will appear on the image if it is printed or exported.
- Sticky Notes
- Sticky notes provide the ability to add a note to the image which will not be printed.

Resolution
Before users can add annotations and redactions, please ensure the following:
- The user has the proper Annotation permissions for the doc type they would like to annotate. The ability to add Annotations is granted to users who are assigned to a TCM permissions group that includes
RWCDA level access to the document types (the A stands for Annotate).
As a standard the MU_*_FULL permissions group have RWCDA permissions applied. To provide a user with that access, please follow the instructions found here: How to Configure TCM Redaction and Annotation Permissions. - If the user has the proper permissions and the attachment is not being accessed through a read-only mapping then an annotation can be added.
