Gross Income Percent Deduction Calculation





Description of Issue

The Gross Income Percent deduction code is not calculating at all. It should be 25% of Gross Income; it is 0.00.

Cause

In order for the Gross Income Percent to work, the system still requires that the Disposable Income Percent be setup because the system is designed to make the calculation based on the following: Smallest of:

  • (1) Deduction Gross *Disposable Income Percent

  • (2) Gross Income *Gross Income Percent

  • (3) Deduction Gross - (Fed Min Hours*Fed Min Wage)

Once you enter the percentage of for the Disposable Income Percent, the system will make the calculation based on the Gross Income Percent if that withholding amount will be lower.



Resolution
  1. To enter the Disposable Income Percentage value, first navigate to the Deduction and Benefit Master program

    1. Payroll>Payroll Setup>Deduction and Benefit Master

  2. Search for the deduction code in question

  3. Click Update

  4. Click on the Garnishments tab 

  5. In the Garn Disp Income % field enter 25.000

  6. In the Garn Gross Income % field enter 25.000 also

  7. Click Accept

  8. Delete and re-add the deduction code on the employee's record

  9. Test the changes in a test payroll to confirm that the calculation worked as expected
