Time Entry Fixed length flexible import
I am unable to do a Time Entry import for a group of employees with my fixed length .txt file.
Munis Version 2019.1 and higher
Time Entry Import
Custom Templates
Go to Time Entry Import. (Human Resources/Payroll>Payroll>Payroll Processing>Time Entry Processing>Time Entry. Verify Current Active Payroll prompt. Click Yes. Click on Import in the Menu.)
Click Custom Templates in the menu.
Click Create Template in the menu.Â
New Template prompt will display. Define Name, File delimiter is None, click Browse and select Input file.Â
Check First line contains headers if necessary.
If using headers, click checkbox for Attempt field matching based on headers. (this is not applicable with a fixed length file)
Note - a Fixed length file should be saved in .TXT format. (Not .CSV or Excel)Â
Click Upload.
Choose first column file name by clicking the drop down arrow under Line Field.
A dark line will appear on the right side of the highlighted column. Click and drag the line to the right for the number of characters for that field. (example: Employee Number, drag 6 characters)Â
At the top the Begins At and Ends At fields will display the number of the fixed length characters.Â
Do step 6 for all fields.Â
Click Save.Â
Go back to Time Entry Import. Click Define in the toolbar.
Select template by clicking the drop down arrow.Â
Click the magnifying glass icon next to the File field to browse for the import .txt file.Â
Check the Skip First Line checkbox if first line contains headers.Â
Click Accept.Â
Define Time Entry Batch information. Click Accept.Â
View the Time Entry Import Proof. Click Yes to Import Records? prompt that reads, Import Time Entry Records?
A template was not created for the import file.
