Importing only PDF documents into TCM

Importing only PDF documents into TCM

Description of Issue

Requesting information on whether or not TCM can be limited to only importing PDF documents and not any other file types such as TIFF, JPG, PNG, etc.

Context
  • Munis

  • Tyler Content Manager

  • TCM

  • File type restrictions

Cause

Looking to restrict file type options to only PDF documents when importing to TCM.

Resolution

Limiting TCM to only import PDF file type documents is not recommended and there is not currently a way to set up a PDF option for only importing. Many programs that integrate with Munis, such as ESS and CSS, involve image files such as TIFF and JPGs that archive to TCM automatically. Restricting TCM to only use PDF documents has the potential to cause issues with archiving other file types. If other file types are also restricted, those would not be viewable across TCM as a whole, so it does not just impact the importing process.
