Additional Information
  • Both ESS and Munis do not ‘automatically’ pull competency text from those defaults during input, this was to ensure the end user didn’t want to enter their own comments in lieu of the defaulting. Defaulting in this case is considered ‘the input of last resort’. It is far more user friendly to give users the chance to specify what they want to use as a comment rather than bombard them with a comment that they would rather overwrite and require them to ‘select all’ and remove before entering their own ‘customized’ comments. Leaving the field blank is the users way to tell the system that the default text should be used if any default text setup is defined. Otherwise we assume what the user entered should be what is saved. If the Supervisor does not enter text into that field the default text will be used if the competencies are set up and are tied to the 360 source used when doing an initial add or a generate in Employee Evaluations. They should just be aware that even though they don't see the default text in ESS, it will be used if they leave the comments blank.
